About Us

Qoqnoos Publishing House, one of the independent publishers in Iran, was founded in 1977 by Amir Hosseinzadegan. Since then it has published more than 1500 titles, including books from classic and contemporary world literature and Iranian literature to non-fiction books dealing with Iranian society and history, cultural studies and philosophy In 1989 Mr. Amir founded Qoqnoos Book Distribution Center to make his products easily available to the public. In 1998 he decided to publish children books, so Afarinegan Publication was founded by Amir’s daughter and in 2005 Hila Publication was founded by Amir’s son to publish Iranian novels and short stories; so Qoqnoos Publishing House transformed into a Publishing Group. Now this group publishes about 350 titles each year.
On the other side, despite the fact that Iran is not a member of the Bern Convention and Iranian publishers are not legally bound to observe copyright, it has been a long time since Qoqnoos Publishing Group voluntarily draws contracts with international publishers and copyright-holders in order to respect the intellectual rights of authors symbolically.
